10 Things (Around the Web) on Tuesday: 13

I’m going to do something a little different for this week’s version. Instead of showing 10 links to different cool things I’ve found around the web lately…

I’m going to share with you 10 Awesome (New-to-me) Blogs.

While doing work lately on planning new things for my blog, I’ve come across a few new favorite blogs!

  1. Kate of Striped Cat Studio. I’ve actually known of Kate for a little while, since she participates in Blog Brunch. Her Alt Summit business cards included a little paper doll cat, how awesome, right? I also love her play on words, with her “Week-Caps” at the end of the week.
  2. Laura of LBeau Room. She’s a Roller Derby girl. And she posts cute pictures of her cats. She also included a picture from Firefly of Nathan Fillion in a recent post. I think we are destined to be friends. (She just doesn’t know it yet… but she will soon. I also hope that doesn’t sound creepy.)
  3. Elise of enJOY it. I first came across this awesome post about creating content, but I’m seriously in love with her entire blog now. She has a bunch of great goal setting posts, but her DIY and craft tutorials make me feel like she has more talent in her pinky finger than I could ever dream of having. She made this gorgeous quilt with some amazing fabrics, great pillows, and a fun ribbon dreamcatcher.
  4. Kellene of This Lovely Little Day. She’s a fellow ginger with an amazing sense of fashion. I’m still trying to figure out if I can pull of the shorts + tights look. (Which I’ve been trying to figure out for at least a year now.)
  5. Lidy of Hello Lidy. First of all, her blog is adorable. And her two little ones? They are even cuter than her blog.. if it’s even possible. She posts really cute DIY’s.
  6. Anita of Anita Boeira. Anita is also destined to be my friend. She recently posted about the really cute valentine’s dress she made. She has a very cute little house, and posts pretty awesome DIY’s and fun projects to make!
  7. Laura of sweeter salt. She’s a fellow Mainer and has a great sense of style.
  8. Mariah of Oh, What Love. She spoke at Alt along with Jessika Hepburn, Emily Frame + Mina Brinkey and they shared an ebook about Getting Past Zero here… which I found to be awesome, I got a ton of information out of it. Mariah did a great post with an inspiration playlist. She has a series called Theme Thursday… I particularly like this one with a mustache theme.
  9. Lessy of Little Lessy. She wrote some great recaps of Alt Summit. I love the idea of a seasonal gallery wall. I love how she does her monthly goal posts… I should definitely use more pictures/graphics when doing my goal posts!
  10. Marigold of Hideous! Dreadful! Stinky! She also wrote some great posts about Alt Summit. From her favorite quotes to how she prepared. I love the idea of personalizing proposals for different sponsors… and I hope to do something similar if this blog ever gets huge and I look at gaining sponsors. Every summer she does a skirt and dress sewing and wearing challenge called The Summer of No Pants, which I am hoping to participate in. I’m a beginner sewer, and I figure this might be a great way to get some practice! I also love these Harry Potter Birthday Party invites. Marigold taught a design camp at Alt on how to make Yo-Yo necklaces. Alicia, who was there, made a Yo-Yo headband, which I love. I got a Yo-Yo maker a while ago in one of my package swaps… I am definitely going to try to do this!

I hope maybe I’ve helped you to find a new blog or two to read!

P.S. What are some of your favorite blogs to read?

10 Things (Around the Web) on Tuesday: 12

For those of you who are new to this blog, 10 Things on Tuesday is just me curating lovely links I’ve seen around the internet!

  1. I’ve heard of Go Mighty, but I offically signed up and created an account to keep track of my life goals. Find me here.
  2. One of my new favorite bloggy websites is Blogging it Forward. I’ve already had some great conversations with some ladies I’ve met over there.
  3. I love this post on how to look cute while wearing yoga pants! It might come in handy some day I’m doing laundry and I’m out of clean pants.
  4. Maggie of Gussy Sews did a great post on Pure Charity, which is an online affiliate for giving… basically, you spend money on things that you’d normally spend money on, and they give to a charity (that you choose from their list of affiliates). Go read her post, she explains it so nicely.
  5. I’ve talked before about Laura of Blue Eyed Night Owl (and her awesome bookmarks. Go check out this wishlist post with some cute cat stuff from Threadless!
  6. Speaking of cats… I LOVE Kate of Striped Cat Studio’s paper doll that she included in her Alt Summit business cards. I hope that I can come up with a creative idea for business cards when I go to a blog conference!
  7. I love this freebie phone background posted by Aubrey. In fact, it’s my current phone background and I love it!
  8. I bookmarked this forever ago, and haven’t gotten to check it out yet… but it’s on my to-do list!
  9. I want to print some of Mollie’s cute little mitten bookmarks!
  10. I’m already planning to attend Alt Summit next year, and this is definitely going to happen to keep all my cords together! Sunglasses cases are not easy to come by in Maine right now, but I love the idea!

What have you been loving around the internet lately?

10 Things (Around the Web) on Tuesday: 11

  1. Tam was talking about a delicious latte her husband created before we had November’s Blog Brunch, and had so many other bloggers interested in the recipe that she posted it to her blog. I want to try the Harvest Pear Latte, but I would need to learn how to make espresso first!
  2. I love Daryl’s Busy Girl’s Guide to Self Care. Stretching, drinking water or tea, and eating healthy snacks? And taking vitamins. Seems painfully obvious, but still things I need to work on.
  3. I’m probably bordering on crazy cat lady-ness… considering my love for cats and wanting to adopt more, and owning a shirt with a cat pattern on it.. but now I want to make this sweater with cat elbow patches like Kate did!
  4. Ashley from The Shine Project always writes inspiring posts… and her recent post about 6 Thoughts You Should Have by Noon is no exception.
  5. I just found Jensie’s blog.. and not only is it cute and adorable (which make since once you see some of the work she’s done) but I love this post where she took her planner from overloaded to energized with washi tapes! I love that you could use different colored washi tapes for different projects, and even just take the washi tape off once you’re done with something! I’ve been planner-less for a while (since I had a 2011-2012 one that ended this summer, and the one I picked up at Target I didn’t realize started in January) so I could totally see myself utilizing this for the upcoming year!
  6. Liz Pride, a former Mainer, recently launched a tumblr blog called “Your LL Bean Boyfriend” that is getting massive traffic.. and for good reason. It’s hilarious and awesome! I hope you don’t have to be a Mainer to enjoy it.
  7. This Popsicle Stick vase might be a DIY for the spring, when all the pretty flowers are in bloom… or when fake ones are more prevalent!
  8. I just learned about the website I’m in love. Online classes and workshops on different things from jewelry making to holiday themed classes and paper crafts? It sounds so fun!
  9. It still hasn’t really snowed a whole lot or gotten too, too cold… but I’m loving Mk’s recipes for Hot Cocoa… 4 ways! Salted Caramel Hot Cocoa sounds super yummy.
  10. {av} of long distance loving wrote this post about snoods. I’ve always just called infinity scarves, well, infinity scarves! Snood reminds me of the like 90’s computer game. But no matter what you call ’em, they are cute. And I love how she used presented them!

Hmm. This might be one of my favorite 10 Things on Tuesday. I hope you like it too!

10 Things (Around the Web) on Tuesday: 10

It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these! For those followers who are new around these parts, I basically curate a list of 10 lovely things around the internet that I’ve been loving lately All links open in a new window!

This is a Holiday themed list! Enjoy!

  1. I took an alt class with Melanie of you are my fave, and I’ve been reading her blog since. This holiday shadowbox is so cute! And the best part is I could totally see you changing out for different holidays and seasons. Confetti and pictures for a birthday, paper hearts for valentines day?
  2. I’ve seen a ton of awesome advent calendars, especially some cute ones geared towards children. But I think one of my favorites would be this cute Tea Advent Calendar! The website is in French, but the packaging? The cute little tea bags? Awesome!
  3. Also, this Christmas tree bokah looks amazing. I’m curious to see if it would work with my little point and shoot digital.
  4. My co-teacher/cousin is obsessed at the moment with shrinky dinks… and we all made some shrinky dink ornaments. I’m thinking next Christmas, we take it a bit further and make this time capsule shrinky dink ornament.
  5. I’m trying to be more “green” in my Christmas packaging… I covered my mom’s present in an old paper bag. I’m making little present boxes for some of the small jewelry type items for some of the people on my list. I think these bows made out of old shopping bags are adorable!
  6. Nicole did this awesome post about a recycled paper bunting… which I’m thinking would also be cute if you were to go and get some pictures printed and used pictures to make it more personal!
  7. I love this collection of wood gift tags by oh, hello friend.
  8. Lexy of The Proper Pinwheel made the most adorable Santa & Reindeer Garland. I’m thinking it would be cute to print out the templates and maybe take it into work and let my toddlers scribble and color on the reindeer… and hang it in our classroom! I’ll have to post pictures… we created a mantle, Menorah, and Christmas Tree in the past few weeks, complete with Christmas Lights and ornaments!
  9. We do a Secret Santa where I work every year. I’m pretty excited and have either created/bought and planned out what I’m doing for this year. But next year I could make one of these Let It Snow Treat Jars.
  10. I’ve already planned a little gift for each of my kiddos in my class this year, but I’m thinking for next year that these little Personalized Wall Letters would be cute. I love the name on top of the initial. So cute!

I’ll be sure to post if I make any of the fun DIY’s above. I’ll also make sure to take some great pictures of my classroom to post. And I’ll be sure to take pictures and post a tutorial about how I made my little present boxes.

10 Things (Around the Web) on Tuesday: 9

Another Tuesday Feature!

  1. I love this post from Kam about the pomodoro method for getting things done. I am definitely going to be checking this out. Maybe I can actually get reading done eventually!
  2. I love this post on Kam’s blog by Alex, on being an organized blogger!
  3. This bedtime calculator tells you what time to get up depending on when you get to bed, or vice versa! It tries to make it so that you’re waking up between sleep cycles instead of in the middle of one, so that you wake up more energized!
  4. I love this post on Darkroom and Dearly on having your t-shirts horizontal in your dresser so that you can see what’s in your dresser easier.
  5. The way that Erin and her hubby organize and schedule out when their bills are due and when they are going to pay them with what paycheck is amazingly awesome. It’s exactly the way my brain thinks and I am so using this! (In fact, I have been using this to schedule my bills for the past month!)
  6. This blog post is great for a lazy girl like me… 4 Beauty tips for woman who normally don’t give a crap! I hardly ever wear makeup but this seems like it could be so easy!
  7. I loved Joelle’s post on Taylor Swift’s new album… I bought it over the weekend at target, and although it took me a bit to warm up to it, I generally like most of the songs on the cd. 🙂
  8. Maybe it’s due to to spending so much of my time with toddlers but I adore these BabyLit Board Books…. and I want one of each for reading with my kids!
  9. Love Rhi’s blog about Gaining An Instagram Audience. I definitely plan on using some of these tips for my instagram feed.
  10. Also, I don’t bake often, but I really would love to try to make these Pumpkin Spice Marshmallows.

10 Things (Around the Web) on Tuesday: 8

Here’s another lovely 10 Things on Tuesday for you!

  1. These breakfast skewers look so yummy! During a coffee date at Tim Horton’s last week with some friends, I tried their Sour Cream Glazed Donut. I think some of their donut holes, with some yummy fresh fruit would be an awesome breakfast or brunch item!
  2. I’m excited for April’s DIY blog design makeover series. She included a free printable during her first post. I’m going to follow along!
  3. I just learned about the blog Hooked on Houses. I love the “5 Reasons Why Homeowners Shouldn’t Appear in their Real Estate Listings” and “This House in Las Vegas Needs a (Wallpaper) Stripper.” Hilarious.
  4. I haven’t been able to attend a Blog Brunch lately. And this recap of July’s Power of The Post chat sounds amazing!
  5. I love this post on 22 Fictional Character’s Names You Don’t Know.
  6. I hope that I can use this to learn how to paint my non-dominant hand.
  7. I use the word slash in my every day life.. so I love that Nichelle and Elise used the word in the title of their new blog, The Slash Blog! Go check it out. It’s a pretty awesome blog about friendship and other things!
  8. You should go Congratulate Sarah & her hubby, they are due with a baby girl!
  9. Also, It’s Eileen’s 1 year blogaversary!
  10. I love this post about consequences for little hearts!

10 Things (Around the Web) on Tuesday: 7

Here’s another installment of my Tuesday series!

  1. I love this post about blogging tips. Isn’t Kitty’s blog adorable? I love her cats and the fact that she is from Sydney! And here are some great advertising blog tips!
  2. Tami makes these adorable sloths! I want one.
  3. I’m getting into the spirit of the Olympic games! I love this necklace (that I want to make for myself) and I love these coloring sheets (I’d love to take into work and use with “my” kids.)
  4. Speaking of my kids I work with… I love these Popsicle bookmarks! One of our local banks has a summer reading program where kids can earn money by reading a certain number of books, and we are located very close to the library. I think it would be great to get the kids into reading with a combination of all of those things! I also bet this book would be great for use with the kids. It seems like a great book about crafting with kids!
  5. I’m pretty sure that Charlie would be happy as a clam in mud if I made him these tuna frozen cat treats. It’s been humid here lately. I will have to make him some ASAP!
  6. Oh, going back to the kids I work with… (yeah, I love my kids, that are not really mine, but whatever) I love these 4th of July pops! We actually cook/make healthy food with them for snack once a week, and I’m betting these would be a huge hit!
  7. Oh, I also want to make a bunch of these shoe tie practice boards for them since we have a whole bunch that don’t know how to tie their shoes.
  8. I’m not sure about Potato Chip Brownies but they do kinda look good! They could be a totally unhealthy desert after a delicious and more healthy blueberry pizza! And a Lemon Shake Up for a beverage!
  9. I also want to make these awesome things. Cute embroidered bobby pins and some cute bracelets! (Just a heads up, the bracelet tutorial is in Dutch.)
  10. Eventually sometime when I’m not broke, I want to go to a blog conference. (I know I talk about this a lot.) I’m super jealous of the people that were just at Haven! Chelsea did her first vlog and talked about Haven.. Super jealous!
